The Rev'd. Deacon Daryce Hoff-Nolan
Director of Christian Formation
Deacon Daryce grew up right here at St. John's where she was an active member of the choir. Her interest and talent in music led her to a long career as a music educator at Morgan Park Academy and most recently St. John Fisher School. Since being ordained to the Vocational Diaconate, Deacon Daryce has served at St Helena in Burr Ridge and presently serves at Holy Nativity in the Beverly neighborhood in Chicago.
Ms. Renee Brown
Music Director
Renee J. Brown is a well-versed musician specializing in piano, pipe organ, harpsichord, and percussion instruments. Renee holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago, where she majored in Piano Performance and Pedagogy. She is fluent in various musical styles ranging from the Renaissance to Contemporary Christian. She has served as Organist and Music Director with the Episcopal Church for 15 years, and is also comfortable with Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, and AME Zion liturgies.
She has taught K-12 general music for Chicago Public Schools, as well as having taught private piano lessons and conducted vocal and instrumental ensembles. She is currently a Science Teacher with Chicago Public Schools and has taught in Cleveland, OH, Warren and Detroit, MI. Renee also served 5 years with Teach for America/AmeriCorps to support educational equity for underserved communities. She is excited to lead us in our offering of a joyful noise unto the Lord!
Ms. Ellen Early
Office Coordinator
Ellen is a Midwest native born and raised in Chicago, IL. Her parents were teachers with the Chicago Board of Education for their entire professional careers. She graduated high school then attended the University of Illinois/Chicago Circle for two years, ultimately graduating from the Chicago Art Institute.
Ellen is married with one son who lives in South Carolina. She loves to travel and with siblings, friends, and other family members across the country, and has been able to enjoy that passion frequently. She and her sister enjoy thier annual “Sister’s Vacation” by visiting various locales both national and international.
Her professional career in Food Service Management Operations of over 40 years in the Healthcare, Senior Living and University Dining arenas has allowed her to live in many wonderful locations in the United States-South and Northwest Florida, Maryland, Virginia and Minnesota. The love and care for family brought her back to the Midwest in late 2019.
Ellen's other passions and enjoyment include Culinary Arts, Entertaining, Interior Design and hosting big family events.
